SKILL
Dribbling, movement and awareness.

SETUP
25 x 25 yard grid. Every player has a jersey hanging out of the back of their shorts like a tail.

HOW TO
Players must try to pull out each other’s tails. Last person with a tail is the winner. Coach players on side movements and being aware of surrounding players.

STUCK IN THE MUD                AGES 3-12

Stuck in the Mud soccer practice

SKILL
Dribbling and ball protection.

SETUP
Everyone has a ball except 1/4 of the players who wear a separate color jersey. Make a grid large enough to have space but small enough to cause traffic. The players withno balls are the Mudmen.

HOW TO
Players with a ball must protect their ball from the Mudmen. If the Mudmen touch it, the player is stuck in the mud (standing position ball over head with legs spread). The players get unstuck by having a teammate pass their
ball through their legs. The game is over when theMudmen get all the players stuck or time runs out.

STREET SOCCER                ALL AGES

Street Soccer

SETUP
Break team into games of 3 players verses 3 players or 2 verses 2 if you have lower numbers. Fields should be around 20 x 15 yards with a goal on each end. Adjust for numbers.

HOW TO
Each player gets a number (example 1-24). Split into teams of 3 at random. Kids get 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 1 poiont per goal scored in the game. Coach asks at the end of each game how many points they earned, record it on paper. Split players up into random teams again and repeat point system. Player with the most points at the end is the winner.

STAR WARS                AGES 3-9

SKILL
Dribbling.

SETUP
30 x 30 yard grid with 5 x 5 yard square in opposite corners. These are the safe zones. Split into 2 teams, each player has a ball.

HOW TO
Players kick the ball at the other teams balls. If they hit them, the player who’s ball was hit must hold their ball over their head and call for help from the leader. The leader is either Yoda or Dartvader depending on the team. Yoda or Darthvader must run from the safety zone and touch the players ball over head to free them. Game ends when Yoda or Darthvader are hit from the waist down by the ball.

SPACESHIPS AND ASTEROIDS                AGES 3-12

Spaceships and Asteroids drill

SKILL
Pass accuracy.

SETUP
15 x 35 yard grid.

HOW TO
Players must try and run from one end of the grid to the other while coach stands on the edge passing balls along the ground to hit the players feet. Once players get hit they come outside to the outside to join the coach and pass balls (asteroids) into players feet. Game ends when one player (spaceship) remains.

SOCCER TENNIS               AGES 10-13

Soccer Tennis

SKILL
Touch on the ball.

SETUP
A minature court. 20×8 yard grid with cones across center to signify the net.

HOW TO
2 players per team. 4 per court. Each team gets one bounce on their side. Must volley over the line of cones to opponents side. Winner determined by end of time or reaching designated points. Points are obtained when other team fails to volley it back or the ball bounces too many times. Serves are taken from the back.

SOCCER SHIPS                AGES 3-9

Soccer Ships

SKILL
Ball control.

SETUP
Everyone has a ball.

HOW TO
Kids start sailing soccer ships by dribbling around, play stop and go. Have the kids keep the ball close. Call out stormy waters and roll the ball back and forth using the bottom of the foot acting as if the ship is rocking back and forth. Call out “climb” and do taps on the ball and lookout to see if pirates are coming. Yell pirates “climb down” by doing taps on the ball and sail away at super green. Get sea sick and then swab the deck by boxing the ball. Repeat things in random order. End the game by docking the ships.

SETUP
Cones as tee boxes and flags at different distances.

HOW TO
Tee box is inside 4 cone square and must hit flag.
Keep track of strokes (kicks). Make it a competition.

SOCCER CARS                AGES 3-9

Soccer Cars

SKILL
Ball control.

SETUP
Everyone has a ball including the coach.

HOW TO
The soccer ball is your car. Start it up and buckle in. Play red light, green light making sure the kids are keeping the ball close so they can stop it when a red light comes. Add super green light to go real fast. Take your car to find gas. To pump gas do taps on the ball. Every tap equals $1. Ask the kids how much money to put in. Now drive to the car wash and box the ball until it is shiny. Next, the police saw us speeding earlier on super green so coach acts as police officer and tries to tap players ball with foot. Next, appoint some junior officers to help the policeman. Conclude the game by driving home.

SOCCER BOWLING                ALL AGES

SKILL
Touch on the ball.

SETUP
Three cones evenly spaced with a ball on top of each.

HOW TO
Players start behind the cone, split into different teams depending on numbers with same setup for each group. One player stands behind the cones with balls on top (the pins) and tosses the ball to the players standing in line, he/she then tries to volley and direct the ball to knock over a pin on the first touch. Inside of the foot, laces, thigh to foot, chest to foot, head can all be different variations used.

ALTERATIONS
Distances will need to be altered for each age group. For younger kids, just have them try to hit the cone.
